Both sisters love to read, particularly when the story takes them to a completely new place.  As teachers, they both strive to foster a love of reading in their students. Family is the centre of their lives and the source of their strength and inspiration. The combination of these passions resulted in the creation of Legacy of Fire (http://www.amazon.ca/Legacy-Fire-Mackenzies-Elements-ebook/dp/B00BHNNDUI ). The sisters also share a love of  history which helps to shape the fantastical element of the novel with the hope it will transport the reader while looking for his/her own inner strength.  Laurie and Leigh Anne have created a high-interest, low-vocabulary teaching resource targeting struggling male readers for On The Mark Press (http://www.onthemarkpress.com/product/00/N1285/JUST-FOR-BOYS-HIGH-INTERESTLOW-VOCABULARY-GR.-4-CANADIAN-VERSION).

Laurie and Leigh Anne also have a teacher shop on teacher’s notebook http://www.teachersnotebook.com/shop/2writingsisters
